Adult Male Dies Hours After Shooting

October 27, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) – On Sunday evening at 11:55 pm, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls of shots fired and a ShotSpotter activation in the area of the 1700 block of Emerson Avenue North.

Officers arrived and located an adult male, believed to be in his 20’s, on the ground in grave condition suffering from gun shot wounds.  Officers initiated CPR and wound management.  Officers were able to regain a pulse and the victim was transported to an area hospital via an advanced life support ambulance.  The suspect(s) fled prior to officer’s arrival.

The Crime Lab personnel responded to document the scene and collect evidence. Investigators responded and started their investigation.

On Monday, staff from the Medical Examiner’s Office notified the Minneapolis Police Department that the victim in this case had died.

Investigators are working to identify what lead up to the shots being fired.  There is no one in custody at this time.

The Medical Examiner will release the identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death in the days to come.
