Man Dies at Hospital Hours After Shooting

November 9, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) – On Sunday, November 8, 2020, at 8:05 pm, Minneapolis Police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of Bryant Avenue South and Lake Street West.

Officers arrived and located one adult male, believed to be in his late teens, in critical condition suffering from a gunshot wound. The officers immediately provided aid to the victim while additional officers spoke to people in the area.  The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center via ambulance.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and another person were inside a car in the area of Fremont Avenue South and Lagoon Avenue South.  They were approached by a male suspect who got into the back seat and attempted to rob them.  During the course of this encounter, a shot was fired striking the victim.  The suspect fled and the vehicle drove off, stopping at Bryant and Lake Street notifying the police.

The Crime Lab personnel responded to document the scene and collect evidence.

The Medical Examiner notified the Minneapolis Police Department that the victim died at the hospital several hours later.

The Medical Examiner will release the identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death in the days to come.
