On Friday, July 13th the Community Engagement Team went to the Hospitality House located at 1220 Logan Avenue North for the Summer Meals program. Officers played basketball, soccer and had lunch with youth in the building. The officers and youth had a great time spending time with each other.
On Wednesday, July 11th Officer Edwards with the Community Engagement Team set up a ‘Cooking with the Community’ event at Breaking Bread in North Minneapolis. The community and officer prepared a meal together then had positive conversations while enjoying their food.
The Community Engagement Team conducted their weekly visit to the House of Charity. Officers served food to over 200 homeless people. They also encountered a 10 year old girl who was in need of a bicycle. The officers had a bicycle with them and presented her with a brand new bike.
On Thursday, July 12th officers reached out to a family with 3 children who are recovering from an accident. The kids were struck and injured by a vehicle while playing on a playground in North Minneapolis.
